Glass Canopy — Elegant Shelter over the Entrance

Glass Canopy — Elegant Shelter over the Entrance

Veranda Tirana produces and installs glass canopies over the entrances of houses, offices, shops and hotels in Tirana and Durrës. A glass canopy protects the entrance from rain and hail without blocking the light, giving the façade a modern architectural detail that gets noticed immediately.

The structure is made with stainless steel rods, steel cables or aluminium profiles, according to the style of the building; the glass is always laminated (triplex) — a mandatory safety requirement for overhead horizontal glazing. Every canopy is designed with a slope for water drainage and engineered for snow and wind loads.

The models we build

  • Cable-suspended canopy — ultra-light look, just glass and two cables; the classic of modern entrances
  • With stainless steel rods — wall support with two or four rods, robust for wider spans
  • With aluminium structure — full profile with integrated gutter, the most economical option
  • Curved or silk-screened canopy — silk-screen or smoked glass to the architect's design

How much a glass canopy costs

Prices are 200–350 €/m² depending on the structure: the steel-cable version is at the top of the range, the aluminium structure at the bottom. The typical canopy over a house door (1.5×1 m) costs 350–550 €; canopies for shop or hotel entrances (4–8 m²) 900–2,500 €. Installation is included and takes half a day to one day.

Why the glass must be laminated

Above people's heads there are no compromises: we use only 6+6 or 8+8 mm laminated glass, which even when broken by hail or a falling object stays bonded to the inner film and does not fall. The structure is fixed with chemical anchors into concrete or the façade's metal frame — at the free survey we always verify the support before quoting.

Frequently asked questions

Is rain noisy on the glass?

Laminated glass dampens well; rain noise is present but not disturbing. Silk-screen or acoustic glass reduces it further.

How much cleaning does it need?

2–3 cleanings a year are enough. On request we apply a self-cleaning (hydrophobic) treatment that lets rainwater wash the dust away.

Can it be mounted on a façade with old plaster?

Yes, but we first check the substrate: if the plaster does not hold, we anchor to the columns or beams behind it. This part of the survey is decisive.
